Submitting a Prospectus or Proposal

A formal prospectus is ideal, but if you don't have one, we'd be happy to accept a proposal that includes the following information:

  1. Summary of proposed project content
  2. Detailed table of contents
  3. Sample chapters or other representative portion (e.g., set of activities), if possible
  4. Description of the audience
  5. Information about any relevant research or field testing
  6. Brief summary of similar books available on the subject and explanation of how your proposed project differs from those books
  7. Curriculum vita and/or short bio for each principal author
  8. Current contact information for the first author

Our editorial and marketing teams will review your proposal and contact you as soon as possible about publication possibilities.

Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation

Please do not send your entire manuscript unless requested to do so. If we invite you to send a whole manuscript, we ask that you mail a hard copy to the following address, along with word processing files on a CD:

General Recommendations

When preparing your manuscript, please keep these recommendations in mind:

Don't use any fancy formatting. Unusual fonts, shading, multiple columns, color, borders, text boxes, and other special formatting actually slow us down because they must be removed manually during editing and layout.

If your manuscript contains various levels of headings, be sure that all headings and subheadings are consistently styled (for example, the Microsoft Word styles Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, etc.).
